The Chair of the Josephine County Republican Party is on a mission. She wants Josephine County Commissioners to buy into her election conspiracy theories, which could end up costing the county a lot of money like it has Shasta County to the south of us in California.
At the Aug 23 Business Meeting, Morton spent her three minutes at the podium saying this:
“Candice Kaiser and I just had the opportunity to go back to Springfield Missouri to attend the Election Crime Summit and our hair was set on fire by a lot of the things that we saw. It was sponsored by Mike Lindell, he put a million dollars of his own money to pay for the event and it was the most organized information-intense program I’ve ever seen in my life. There were about 40 different speakers, all of the top experts on elections, election machines and that sort of thing. We’re gonna be, through the office, making information from that available so citizens can take a look at that and come to their own conclusions but anyone who would attend that seminar and not realize that we got major election crime problems in every state in the United States, um I don’t know what to say. You know, it’s just so obvious. Professor David Clements was there, Dr. Douglas Frank, Captain Seth Keshel, all of the top experts in this area were there and it was very consequential. They’ve developed something called a WMD which is a wireless machine detector and what it does it allows you to tell if there’s something wireless so they go to the machines and they can see if they’re capable of transferring data. Cause we heard they were not capable of transferring data, we heard it from every news source. No, you’re not connected to the internet. It was found that 100 percent of the Dominion and almost every single one of those machines is very capable and as long as they have the device inside them they don’t have to be plugged into anything. If they have wireless capability in an area with Wi-Fi the information can be transmitted. In addition to that they can develop algorithms so that each vote will have a certain percentage of value. There are a number of things that we’ve got to look at in our society and we’re going to be bringing that information forth.”
Note: Reuters on Captain Seth Keshel-a former Army captain who worked in intelligence and who claimed to have developed statistical models that prove the 2020 election results were fraudulent. After the election, Keshel told Reuters he contacted Mike Flynn on LinkedIn and they began collaborating. Keshel in August released an analysis which he claimed showed Trump won seven states that went to Biden. Trump embraced the claim, saying the report came from a “highly respected Army intelligence captain.”Keshel told Reuters he stands by that assessment. Dr. Doug Frank – The Washington Post calls his “sixth-degree polynomial chicanery trying to prove election fraud “idiotic.” David Clements is a former professor who lost his position for spreading election conspiracy theories.https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/08/17/mike-lindell-summit-election-crime-event-conspiracy-theories/70615033007/
Commissioner Dan DeYoung said this:
“Mike Lindell is a great guy, I’m sure that’s Mike Lindell the Pillow Guy that sponsored that seminar, - everything he does is electric, he’s a very dynamic individual glad to see he’s stepping up with that. I know very little about wireless data but almost everything that leaves can be interrupted. If it leaves the airways it can be interrupted and if it can be interrupted it can be altered. So when they say there’s just no way that can happen I don’t buy that for a minute. With my very limited education on communications and broadband and wireless and Wi-Fi and all a that, that’s beyond me. But I agree with you on that, something we really need to keep an eye on.”
Commissioner John West, sitting as Chair in Herman Baertschiger’s absence said this:
“Holli, boy, I am not an expert on uhh, electronics. I’m pretty good at turning my phone on and off and once I go past that who knows what’s gonna happen? But I know you can hack anything. You can git into anything in our world today and so nothing surprises me. So I hope that we…if it takes it, we can go back to the old way of doing elections. Where you show up at the school or the library wherever it is and you do it by hand. If that’s what it takes for the people to have confidence that it’s bein done correctly and fairly I would be fine to going back to…I know it, it we’ve gotten used to having it delivered to our house but that has not always worked well in that in that people will vote because you give em a free, no stamp, they don’t have to put a stamp on it, all they gotta do is fill it out and send it in, we still have a tough time gitten them to even vote. Which kinda floors me a little bit but so if it means we go back to the old way to ensure everybody that elections are fair then maybe that’s what we need to do.”
The ”Election Crime Summit” Morton attended has been called “Fire, Brimstone and Rage Over the Trump Indictments at MyPillow CEO’s Election Fraud Event” by huffpost.com https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-campaign-allies-breach-voting-machines-software-georgia-colorado-michigan-pennsylvania_n_64da95d6e4b08f5062c695c6 and “Conspiracy Theorists Gather at Missouri Summit to Discussed Rigged Voting Machines, 2020 Election: Springfield News-Leader https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/08/17/mike-lindell-summit-election-crime-event-conspiracy-theories/70615033007/. Business Insider’s headline was, “Mike Lindell is Hawking Wi-Fi Filters Called WMDs That He Claims Will Protect You – And Voting Machines – From the Evil Chinese Communist Party.” https://www.businessinsider.com/mike-lindell-wi-fi-blockers-protect-evil-chinese-communist-party-2023-8
This “Summit” included speakers such as Steve Bannon, Laura Loomer, Lou Dobbs and Mike Flynn and Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Green. Ken Paxton, the Texas Attorney General (being impeached for committing crimes so bad his fellow Texas Republicans are impeaching him) and Rudy Giuliani were also supposed to speak but they didn’t show up. Another missing speaker was Shasta County Supervisor Kevin Crye, who is being recalled in that Northern California county for capitalizing on “phony election fraud hysteria” according to The News Café, an on-line news outlet in Redding.
That phony election fraud hysteria just may be migrating to Josephine County, which should pay careful attention to extremely conservative Shasta County, just slightly larger than Josephine with similar demographics, before getting carried away. Crye and his fellow ultra-conservatives on the Shasta County Board of Supervisors has cost the county $3 to $4 million dollars for changes to their election system after voting to get rid of all voting machines and requiring the hand-counting of ballots. The California State Legislature is poised to pass AB969 prohibiting the hand-counting of ballots because of Shasta County’s paranoia. The reason Crye and his fellow ultra-conservatives gave for getting rid of Shasta County’s Dominion machines was the same reason Morton is giving: the machines cheat against Republicans, even though like Josephine, no Democrat has held elected office in Shasta County in years.
Morton’s hero, the My Pillow Guy Mike Lindell, promotes a divinely inspired plan to overthrow the “deep state” and restore paper, hand-counted ballot voting to America. He also wants to place his WMD devices, that cost $500 each, into the hands of his followers so they can harass local election officials and spy on residents to make sure no one is voting illegally, according to his pitch.https://www.businessinsider.com/mike-lindell-wi-fi-blockers-protect-evil-chinese-communist-party-2023-8
By the way, My Pillow Guy is being sued by Dominion for $1.3 billion for spreading false information about their machines and Fox News had to pony up $787 million recently after a judge ruled the cable television network lied about Dominion voting machines. Morton’s mission could end up getting the same kind of attention in Josephine County, since according to DeYoung and West’s comments, they seem to go along with her election conspiracy theories.
Oregon’s Secretary of State Elections Divisions makes this statement: “Oregon’s elections are secure. The voting equipment is never connected to the internet. There are no routers connected to the tabulation system and there never have been.” The state also has an “intrusion detection system” to keep the evil Chinese communists out as well so it doesn’t need Mike Lindell’s WMD. https://sos.oregon.gov/elections/Documents/vote-systems/albert-sensor-february-2022.pdf
