Grants Pass Remembrance is organizing a Juneteenth celebration in Grants Pass. The event will feature food trucks, lawn games (cornhole, etc.), face painting, music, and Black history bingo. It is a chance to gather and celebrate our community and the importance of Juneteenth.

We will be gathering at the Two Rivers on Riverbanks Rd for some wine, food, music, good conversation and the beautiful outdoors in the valley between the Applegate and Rogue Rivers. Wine prices vary by the year/type. Food Pairing runs from $13 to $22 depending on selection. Anything with beef is from their own grass-feed cows. Live music from 3-5pm. We will gather starting at 2.
We can make reservations to get a great table. If you are thinking of joining us, please email us with the number of people.

More authoritarian rule by out esteemed Commissioners Baertschiger and West. They combined two departments that have no relation to each other: Emergency Services and Information Systems. Reason, wildfire is only during 4 months of the year and cyber security attacks are all year. The result of that is Jackson County is pulling out shared emergency management functions.
Jackson County Manager Jordan said that the decision to combine the roles indicated to him a lack of understanding of the importance of an emergency manager. He then said he intended to remove Josephine County data from the shared citizens' alert system called Everbridge after the 2023 fire season, end an intergovernmental agreement to collaborate on the Rogue River Valley Integrated Fire Plan, and to hold off on hiring a jointly funded fire plan coordinator. So either these functions will be going away in Josephine County, or we, the taxpayers will be paying the full cost.
Let's also consider that emergencies also include floods and earthquakes. Of course, these same commissioners scoff at the idea that the Cascadia earthquake could occur in their lifetime. So, why bother? |
