Oppose: Candidate voted against legislation or explicitly stated a policy position on the record with no ambiguity.
Unknown: Candidate took no explicit or compelling public position.
Mixed: Candidate made conflicting statements and/or votes on the issue or took a nuanced position.
Election of Officers for 2017-2018
Per the Bylaws, the election is take place during the 2016 December meeting. The following positions are now open for declaration or may be nominated from the floor at the December meeting:
- Vice Chair
- Delegates to State Central Committee
- District Delegates
Any Democrat can opt to run, but only current Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) are eligible to vote on the candidates at the December meeting.
To be on the December ballot, a declaration to run must be submitted at least seven (7) days before that meeting. Therefore any nominations from the floor will be treated as write-ins.
PCPs for the 2017-2018 biennial session can be appointed next year by the incoming chair or elected.

The February 14th meeting of the Josephine County Democrats will feature Jerry Reed with an in-depth presentation about healthcare access for the people of Oregon. In addition, there will be a presentation on women’s rights. Several members of the group also participated in women’s marches January 21 and will give accounts of their experiences. Everyone interested in learning more about important issues concerning families, community and our country are welcome.

Consider joining a newly founded group, Rogue Indivisible, founded in January, 2017, representing progressives and progressive causes in Southern Oregon – broadly defined as Jackson, Josephine, Curry, and Douglas Counties. We are a combination of three former groups including Three Rivers Progressive Action Caucus and Feminists of Southern Oregon.
We welcome and encourage all people to our meetings, website, and Facebook page; we sincerely believe in Civil Discourse. We encourage finding common issues and fighting for them together – there is strength in numbers!
