ELECTION 2020 Local
Sarah McGlaughlin
Candidate – Non-Partisan
Circuit Court Judge
As a third-generation Southern Oregonian, I know how unique our community truly is. We have a different way of life and our elected leaders should know that, represent that, and uphold our values. Values of honesty, justice, community, and family. I can think of no better place where these values should be firmly cemented then in our court system.
As our judge in Josephine County, I am committed to being an independent voice who will make decisions based on the law with integrity, accountability, and transparency. Our legal system and courts should be a place where you can find truth and justice, and that starts from behind the bench.
I will uphold the Constitutions of the United States and Oregon, and serve our court and our community with respect and integrity. I would appreciate your support in my election.
Candidate – Non-Partisan
Grants Pass City Council Ward 4
As an almost 20 year resident of Josephine County Vanessa recognizes now more than ever Grants Pass needs bold leadership. Vanessa is ready to roll her sleeves up and get to work beginning on day one. To be an effective leader she recognizes the community needs to be heard which is something she believes doesn’t always happen now. “When local real estate agents, non profit directors, and residents say housing is an emergency we need to start treating it like one.” she said. With every year the median price of homes rise and median incomes are falling behind. These statistics will not attract worthy employers. The work force must be able to afford housing to work in their community.
Vanessa is a tireless advocate for issues the community faces. Her viewpoint is that public involvement is imperative to a thriving community and should not be treated as just a requirement. It is the duty of local leadership to get into the heart of the community to hear from people and make civic engagement possible for all.
Growing up in a working class family Vanessa knows what it is like for her single mom to have several jobs at once. She knows that civic engagement is extremely difficult depending on class. The City of Grants Pass deserves leadership from all walks of life representing a wide swath of our community. Running for public office comes with a great deal of respect for your community, an ability to listen, and a strong ability to communicate. Vanessa will be the candidate to help raise all voices.
