Help with the California Recall

I’m writing you today on a matter of utmost importance for the Democratic Party agenda. I’m asking you to sign up for a shift of phone banking to help stop the California recall election.

Ballots are due next week in California’s recall election, and we need all hands on deck.

Democratic governor Gavin Newsome’s progressive administration has managed to keep the California economy booming despite the COVID pandemic. And while the delta variant of COVID is raging everywhere, California’s policies have kept case numbers to less than a third of their January peak. Should the recall election succeed, this would all come to an end.

Larry Elder, the leading candidate to replace Newsome if the recall wins, opposes California’s vaccine and mask mandates, would reduce the minimum wage to $0, opposes sex education in public schools, and would set up barriers to reproductive health.

Polling is too close for comfort on this one, and there are signs that the Republican electorate is much more engaged than the Democrats right now. We need your help to re-engage folks. This is why I’m asking you to sign up for a shift of phone banking to help stop the California recall election.

California isn’t Oregon, and we can all be glad for that; but what happens in California definitely affects Oregon, and vice-versa. Global warming in particular affects both of our economies in profound ways. And Larry Elder has made it clear that he does not believe in global warming and would end California’s renewable energy surge in favor of increased dependence on carbon-polluting fossil fuels. We in Oregon cannot afford to let that happen.

Recall ballots are due the night of Tuesday September 14th. Between now and then, we need to call as many Democrats and D-leaning voters as possible to turn out their votes. Please sign up for a shift of phone banking to help stop the California recall election.
